Festival Mawazine
Created at the initiative of the Morocco Cultures association, the Festival Mawazine is an event organized each year in May in Rabat, Morocco. This festival is part of an opening approach to cultures by offering the public a musical journey around the planet.
Each year for thirteen years, this international meeting, which was created in 2001, aims to introduce Morocco to the different musical cultures in the world. It welcomes Moroccan artists as well as internationally renowned stars, including styles of traditional or urban music.
The Festival Mawazine has acquired a solid notoriety on the circuit of international cultural events. For nine days, the festival welcomes more than 1,500 artists from around the world. The key: more than 125 shows spread over 7 sites. A sign of its growing success, Mawazine brought together 2,500,000 festival -goers and more than 35 million viewers in 2013.
Among the foreign celebrities who participated, we can quote George Benson, Whitney Houston, Jil Jilala, David Vendetta, Amr Diab, Nancy Ajram and Juanes in 2008, Warda Al Jazayria, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys and Kylie Minogue in 2009, Santana, BB King, Elton John. Belkhayat, Sting, Julio Iglesias, Don Bigg, Mika and Al Jarreau in 2010, Shakira, Lionel Richie, Sugababes, Quincy Jones, Nass El Ghiwane, Cat Stevens and Joe Cocker in 2011, or Mariah Carey, Naima Samih, Scorpions, Lenny Kravitz, Jimy Cliff, Wael Kfoury, Lmfao, Pitbull, Khaled and Evanescence in 2012, Rihanna, Jessie J, Mika, the French rap group Sexion d'Assaut and the DJ International David Guetta in 2013. In terms of the 2014 edition, the names of some artists who will present themselves for this 13th edition were unveiled, we find in particular Justin Timberlake, Stromae, Ricky Martin French IAM and the new R&B phenomenon in the United States Jason Derülo ...
